Training For the Emergency Services

Off Road Training for First Response Units

Responding to emergencies requires specialist skills, talents and training. Our police forces will attend crimes in rural locations, paramedics, and Fire & Rescue teams will travel across rough and varied terrain to reach emergencies. Essentially our first response teams have to be ready and able to cope with just about anything.

Over the years we have delivered training to hundreds of first response units and emergency services. As the only RoSPA approved training centre, we’re proud and committed to providing off road driving courses that are assured for their exceptional safety standards.

Off Road Courses for Ambulance Crews

We regularly train Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART) Paramedics. Our driver training for HART teams is different to blue light training or ambulance driver training. Since HART teams regularly respond to incidents that take place off road, our training is focused on ambulance crews that may need to operate specialist vehicles.

Below we’ve outlined the types of training we provide and how they can help.

Winch Training for HART Ambulance

Winch training is vital for HART units that are expected to attend emergencies in off road locations. Knowing how to safely and effectively operate a winch enables HART teams to recover their own vehicles if they get stuck.

Our winch training course can be combined with 4×4 courses and all-terrain vehicles (ATV) training, using a range of different winching equipment. We cover everything from hand winches (tirfor or capstan types) to vehicle mounted and standalone winches. These are practical and highly effective courses providing learners with the knowledge and ability to assess and mange risk.

Off Road Vehicle Training

We’ve trained the Welsh ambulance service use specialist 6×6 vehicles for use on beaches and other boggy surfaces.

however, one of our more popular courses for HART teams is our Polaris or ATV (Sit-in) training. These utility terrain vehicles (UTV) allow paramedics to drive side-by-side while providing all the benefits of a quick and nimble quad bike. These again can be taught in conjunction with other courses, like our off road trailer training course.

Off Road Courses for Police Units

We have done extensive training with many police forces across the UK. Rural Crime Units are required to attend emergencies or conduct investigations in remote or hard to reach places, which is why we train them on the safe and correct use of off-road vehicles.

Off Road Vehicle Training

Our 4wd or 4×4 course courses are vital for the police force as these vehicles are great in rural locations. our 4×4 refresher courses is a great for those who may need to be recertified for work. One of our most popular courses with rural crime units or specialist units, like the Equine Police team is our Quad Bike training and ATV/UTV course. These vehicles provide quick access to hard to reach, off road locations.

Since there is such a huge requirement with the police force, some units prefer to develop their own in-house training by becoming a certified training provider. We offer 4×4 instructor as well as quad and ATV instructor courses
