When every second counts and terrain can’t be trusted, the skills behind the wheel matter. That’s why Beyond Driving is proud to continue supporting the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust HART team with advanced off-road and winch training designed for real-world emergency response.
We recently completed another Qualsafe-accredited HART Operations Polaris and Winch Instructor course in Bridgend, delivering professional refresher training for three highly experienced instructors—and yes, we brought the rain too!

Professional, Practical, and Purpose-Built
This multi-day course was delivered from the Trust’s own Bridgend facilities, where our trainers worked alongside HART personnel in a familiar operational environment. Our winch-equipped Polaris UTV was front and centre, giving the team exactly the tools they use in the field.
Across the training, we focused on:
- Winch operation and recovery scenarios
- Operational safety and instructor-level best practice
- Vehicle handling, load management and command positioning
- Real-world applications drawn from HART’s national remit
Each participant successfully renewed their Polaris and Winch Instructor certification, enabling them to deliver in-house HART-standard training across the Welsh regions.

Built for the Demands of Frontline Response
The Qualsafe-accredited HART Operations Polaris and Winch Instructor Programme is a bespoke course tailored to the specific requirements of Hazardous Area Response Teams. It’s not just about technical ability—it’s about instilling the leadership and instructional capability required to train others to that standard.
Our course combines:
- Realistic terrain driving
- Hands-on vehicle and winch operation
- Instructor development aligned to HART’s operational context
- Nationally recognised accreditation
And it all takes place against the stunning (and often wet) Welsh landscape—a tough but rewarding environment that prepares teams for anything.
