Back in Northamptonshire – A Successful Refresher for Fire Service Instructors
We were pleased to return to Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service this week to deliver a refresher course for three instructors who originally completed their Winch Instructor Training with us three years ago.
Over the course of the week, we worked with the team near Kettering to:
- Review the legal framework and operational best practices (HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, MHSWR)
- Update practical and instructional techniques using real-world scenarios and live winching exercises
- Observe and assess instructional delivery, ensuring consistent high standards when training operational crews
It was fantastic to see the positive impact of continued training. All three instructors had clearly maintained a high level of competence and professionalism over the past three years, regularly delivering high-quality winch operator training within their service. The refresher course gave them the chance to consolidate their experience, refresh their knowledge, and receive external validation of their teaching methods.
