Training for response drivers
Many emergency responders are equipped with off-road capable vehicles, from the standard 4×4, through custom ambulance conversions, ATVs and quad bikes. Beyond Driving are specialists at providing training for the emergency services which dovetails into current driver training programmes.
All of our trainers will use the Roadcraft system of vehicle control throughout training courses, so that your already highly trained drivers and riders understand that off-road driving is merely an extension to the driving skills they use as they change from a dry motorway to a mud-slick country road. Whether it is on motorways or mountains – advanced driving is still best practice.
Advanced driver training – applied off-road
Within Beyond Driving we have some of the most experienced trainers available. Many of them are DVSA ADIs, former services and military trained drivers themselves. They are all also RoSPA certified 4×4 Instructors, and several are also approved to run for all-terrain vehicle training (both Sit-In and Sit-Astride ATVs). Our off-road response drivers courses have been developed with Police, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue Service and military response driver trainers who are experts in understanding the limits between what ‘can‘ be done and what ‘should‘ be done.
We also run specialist instructor training courses for emergency service trainers who want to be able to provide their own in-house training courses. These aren’t just a tick-box excercise, but have been developed during our work with NHS Hart teams, Fire and Rescue service trainers, Police driver training schools, Mountain Rescue, Coastguard and the RNLI. The focus is on outcomes – with safety and effectiveness at the forefront.
