Excelsior Training. This is Nigel Dawson’s site, one of Britain’s foremost driver trainers. His tag line is pretty much true! Nigel also runs a Fleet Instructor Course for driving instructors who wish to be on the register.
Driver Training Legislation:
The name says it all. If you are searching for Road Safety studies, legislation or proposals then you should find them on here. It’s a clunky site, so if you have a specific question feel free to email us at info@beyonddriving.co.uk and we’ll see if we can find out for you. Recently they have added a Road Safety at Work section to the DfT site - well worth a look.
The Driving Standards agency are the people who register fleet trainers. Beware that you do not have to be on the fleet register to carry out fleet training. We are on it, and we would advise any fleet manager to make sure that fleet training providers are only using fleet registered trainers.
The Occupational Road Safety Alliance provide information and resources to companies, drivers and trainers. If you want some information on why it is so important to train your employees - have a look here.
This is the main Think! Road Safety site, which has a huge amount of information on it. You can order posters, leaflets and handouts for free from this government agency. Have a search through and there is loads of relevant downloads for fleet managers drivers and trainers.
This is the Health and Safety Executive’s Road Safety section. This is all of the legal stuff. Responsibilities and legislation and how it applies to businesses and their drivers.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 - Does what it says on the tin. Heavy reading, but if you need to know - it’s here.
RoSPA Road Safety at Work Downloads - This really is the canine’s reproductive organs! Lots of downloads for trainers and employers. They all make sense and they’re all simple to access.
Driving at Work (Managing work related road safety) - This is the joint HSE/DfT booklet. IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE - READ THIS! And if you do read nothing else you’re either a lazy sod or you’re going to employ someone else to do the research for you. Any reasonable offers for doing this are welcome!
