Fleet Driver Training Courses

Driver Risk Assessments:

Our Driver Risk Assessments can be carried out at your workplace and can be tailored to your needs.

Driver Assessments should be carried out:

  • As part of the interview process (up to 6 drivers/day/assessor - assessment only)
  • With new employees who are expected to drive as part of their job (up to 2 drivers/day/assessor - assessment & basic training)
  • When drivers’ vehicles change (up to 4 drivers/day/assessor - assessment & basic training)
  • Yearly, as part of the ongoing process of managing occupational road risk (up to 2 drivers/day/assessor - assessment & top-up training)

All of our fleet driver assessors are Driving Standards Agency Fleet Registered Trainers and are qualified in assessing experienced drivers sensitively and diplomatically.

The more in-depth assessments (2 drivers/day/assessor) also include an element of basic training, covering vehicle checks and defensive driving. With many candidates this level of assessment and training covers H&S requirements with no further training necessary. At the end of these in-depth assessment and training sessions, drivers who we feel still have residual risk will be recommended for further driver training.

Every risk assessment is recorded and signed by the trainer and candidate, including any recommendations for further training and reports are made available to both candidates and fleet management.

Driver Training:

All of our Driver Training Courses can be carried out at the workplace. Content of the training will be dependent upon any outstanding risks highlighted by the risk assessments.

Driver Training may be necessary for:

  • Speed Awareness (up to 2 drivers/day/trainer) for drivers with a history or high risk of speeding.
  • Post Incident or Accident Training (up to 2 drivers/day/trainer) for drivers who have been involved with a road traffic collision or other driving incident.
  • Defensive Driving (up to 2 drivers/day/trainer) for drivers who are assessed as being high risk (due to high mileage, vehicle choice, driving history or after assessment).
  • SAFED Van Driver Training (2 drivers/day/trainer) Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving for van drivers.
  • 4×4 Off-Road Training (up to 3 drivers/day/trainer) for drivers who need to use their vehicles off-road (PUWER compliant)

We are able to tailor many other courses to the needs of the individual driver and their company. If you have any specific requirements please contact us as we work with some of the best qualified specialist driver trainers around the UK.

Driver Reports and the paper trail:

All of our assessments and training is designed to be fully auditable in the case of an incident or investigation and can be designed to include:

  • DVLA License checks
  • Vehicle safety checks
  • Risk assessment prior to training
  • Training areas covered
  • Risk assessment post training
  • Recommendations for further training
  • Recommendations for changes to company driving policy

If at any point during the assessment and training process you need further information, we can provide it.

Fleet Training Costs:

As a rough guide to costs, all of our training can be calculated at around £350/day/trainer. Our risk assessment and basic training courses usually work out at around £175/candidate.
